Vision Board 2027: Ideas, Categories and How to Make One You Will Still Look At in March
Plan the year before it starts.

A vision board for 2027 is a picture of the year you want, made before the year starts. Most boards fail for one reason: they get made in January and forgotten by March. This guide covers what to put on yours, how to build it, and how to keep it alive.
Vision board 2027 ideas by life area
Pick three or four areas, not ten. A board that tries to hold everything shows nothing clearly.
Work and money
A specific role, a launch, a savings number you can say out loud. Vague wealth gives your eyes nothing to land on.
Health and body
A race you will enter, a weight-training routine, a sleep time. Choose something you can do on a Tuesday.
Relationships
A weekly dinner, a trip with someone, a friendship you want to repair.
Place and home
The room you want to finish, the city you want to visit, the desk you want to work at.
Inner life
Ten minutes of quiet, a book a month, one habit you want to drop.
How to make one
Write the year in one sentence
Start with how you want December 2027 to feel, then pick the areas that make it true.
Choose images of you, not of strangers
Research on future self-continuity suggests that seeing yourself in the future, rather than someone else, makes that future feel more like yours. On FutureSelf you upload one photo and get eight scenes with your real face; the first scene is free and the full board is $4.90.
Add the process, not only the result
Pham and Taylor (1999) found that picturing only the outcome can lower effort, while picturing the process improved results. Next to each result, put the first small step.
Put it where you will see it
Phone lock screen, desktop wallpaper, the wall by your desk. A board in a folder is not a board.
Pinterest or a generated board?
Pinterest is good for collecting ideas and is free. Its limit is that the images are other people. A generated board puts you in the scene. Many people do both: collect on Pinterest, then build the final board with their own face.
Still looking at it in March
The honest research picture is that a board is a reminder, not a cause. A 2026 randomized trial in the Journal of Medical Internet Research (van Gelder et al., N=321) found that the effects of future-self exercises faded by follow-up. So treat the board as something you return to: look at it weekly, and pick one action from it each week.
